Until 6 January 2019, the Fondazione Giorgio Cini is showcasing an exhibition featuring Carlo Scarpa and the Cappellin M.V.M. glassworks at Le Stanze del Vetro on Venice's Island of San Giorgio Maggiore.
This beautiful exhibition leads us through the history of the glass factory established by Giacomo Cappellin in 1925, highlighting its importance between the 1920s and the 1930s in Murano. As a passionate experimenter, Cappellin boasts a large production of glassworks, stemming from his constant research into form and matter and leading to innovative, top quality results. Thanks to revisiting ancient techniques like the reticello filigree and the Phoenician decoration, Cappellin is still standing as a timely, contemporary glassworks.
