A new initiative, produced by Civita Tre Venezie and funded by Venetian Heritage and the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with Gagosian and the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte and supported by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, testifies to the value of the collaboration between public and private in the preservation and promotion of Venice’s historical and artistic heritage. Next 19 May, in fact, will see the opening to the public of Domus Grimani: La Sala del Doge – the refurbishment of one of the most spectacular and evocative rooms in the Palazzo Grimani, which will regain its Renaissance splendour – and the exhibition Archinto with new works by the German artist Georg Baselitz, some of them created expressly for this setting.
The intervention in the Sala del Doge with the return of the Greek and Roman statuary that used to be part of the Grimani collection is part of a strategy of enhancement and promotion of the building and its history, in continuity with the restoration of the Tribuna of the Patriarch Giovanni Grimani, inaugurated in May 2019 with the exhibition Domus Grimani 1594-2019.
