April 19th, 2013 – March 31st, 2014
Salvatore Ferragamo Museum, Palazzo Spini Feroni, Florence

The Salvatore Ferragamo Museum, in collaboration with Ferragamo Foundation and with the support of the City of Florence, hosts an exhibition dedicated to the world of the shoe, depicted through fairy tales. Fairy tales, myths and legends have often told the story of shoes and shoemakers, like in Cinderella or The Red Shoes stories. Maybe because shoes have always symbolised wealth, and the power of those could afford the most precious pair.

The curators Stefania Ricci, Sergio Risaliti and Luca Scarlini have invited, specially for this project, fairy tale experts like Antonio Faeti and Michele Rak, writers and poets including Hamid Ziarati, Michele Mari and Elisa Biagini, the composer Luis Bacalov, who wrote the original soundtrack of the exhibition, artists that created bespoke works like Liliana Moro, Ann Craven, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders and, among others, the great Mimmo Paladino. Films and publications complete the universe of “The Amazing Shoemaker”, like the comic series by Frank Espinosa, based on the life story of Salvatore Ferragamo.
