A cycle of meetings
November 2015, on Thursdays
Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, Milan
"Le mani intelligenti: i mestieri d’arte" (Intelligent Hands: Art Trades) is a cycle of meetings organised by Museo Bagatti Valsecchi along with Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, and centred on the extraordinary craftsmanship of men and women whose trades have achieved art’s dignity.
After the initial two meetings, on 5 and 12 November, the third meeting, to be held on 19 November, will be focusing on high-quality jewellery from design to realisation, and will be conducted by Giampiero Bodino, the Richemont Group art director and founder of the Maison bearing his name, and Alba Cappellieri, Professor of Jewellery Design at Milan’s Politecnico and Director of Vicenza’s “Museo del Gioiello”. The closing meeting, on Thursday 26 November, will be guided by luthier Lorenzo Rossi and Virginia Villa, Director of Cremona’s “Museo del Violino”, who will explore the significance of this ancient, precious trade in our time. The protagonists’ words will be backed by a number of images, objects and records from their work, offering the audience an opportunity to experience a tangible, close encounter with art professions.
The event will take place within the framework of "I giovedì del Museo Bagatti Valsecchi", supported by Fondazione Cariplo and Regione Lombardia, and hosted within the extraordinary setting of the house museum, specially open during the evening for this occasion.
