"Materia Montelupo" displays the results of a residency for nine contemporary Italian artists. For several weeks, they worked alongside artisans employed by ten of the city's ceramics companies and ateliers. The aim was to create new lines of products. The initiative was conceived and organised by Matteo Zauli, the founder and director of the Carlo Zauli Museum in Faenza. After the residencies took place in October and November, the exhibition opened on 2 December at Palazzo Podestarile in Montelupo. The different rooms host a display ideated to present not only the prototypes of the new lines of ceramics that were created, and the expressive realm of each artist, but also to spotlight the skilful craftsmanship found in Italy today.
