On 17 October, at the Council Chamber of Capiago Intimiano (province of Como), Rita Bargna, MAM-Master of Art and Craft 2020, was awarded the European Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards: the highest European acknowledgement in the field of cultural heritage was awarded to 24 projects from 18 countries, and the Cantù lace-maker was the only Italian person to be included among the winners. An award to reflect on the importance of artistic crafts and the need not to make them disappear. At the same time as the event, the exhibition "Antiche e amate trine" was also inaugurated: open until 31 October, it showcases some of the most precious pieces of the collection of the master lace-maker at the Castello di Ariberto, in Capiago Intimiano. Ancient and contemporary laces from the Rita Bargna Collection: 150 veils from the 18th to the 20th century from Italy, France, Belgium and Malta, and contemporary bobbin lace made by her to perfection. Precious wefts as well as the hands of those who have been weaving the threads with love for a lifetime!
